Days in the summer subsequently mean days being spent on the beach. While you’re cooling off in the ocean this summer, be sure to be wary of a silent carpet killer you could bring back to your home: sand.
Sand, are you seasoned beach-goers know, has the ability to get into every nook and cranny that it possibly can. From your bag to your shoes and even in-between your toes, sand can cram in there. The same goes for when it is on your carpet—it can wiggle and thrash its way into the individual fibers of your carpet. Regardless of what the fibers are made out of, whether it be wool, nylon, polyester, or polypropylene, all are susceptible to ripping and shredding, and sand may exacerbate the process.
By allowing sand to stay in the fibers of your carpet, you are raising the risk of carpet damage, as every step onto it will be an open invitation for sand to do its dirty work. That is why regular carpet upkeep is tantamount to carpet longevity, especially for frequent beach-goers. Just a simple vacuum job every week will do, but feel free to do it more frequently depending on how much sand you think you are tracking in.
At the end of the summer season, we do recommend, however, to have a deep professional clean to assuredly remove all of the sand from your carpet. That way, you will be able to start the fall season fresh, with no sand eating away at your carpet.
