Carpet Cleaning for Allergy Relief

Allergy Relief Through Cleaning

The Invisible Enemy
This is a microscopic critter called a dust mite. He triggers allergies in most people with allergy problems.

Allergies are definetly on the increase. They are an unwanted response of the immune system. They result in inflam-mation in the eyes and nose (rhinitis), lungs (asthma) and skin (eczema) – and may contribute to migraine, hypoactivity and rheumatoid arthritis. It is estimated that the allergies affect some 40% of the population at some time.

The house dust mite excrement is one of the most widespread allergen triggers for asthma, eczema and allergic nasal mucous membrane inflammations. Further research revealed this trigger was a microscopic protein found in the excrement of the dust mite. The substance, now known as the allergen Der p1, is today recognized throughout the world as the major cause of the distressing symptoms of asthma, rhinitis, eczema and other dust sensitive conditions.

Those tiny creatures thrive in their millions in the warmth and humidity of carpets, mattresses, bedding, upholstery and furnishings of even the most scrupulously clean homes. They are too small to be seen without a microscope, feeding mainly on shedded human skin scales, fungi and bacteria. House dust mites are found in every household. Even with regular and thorough house cleaning, dust particles and human skin scales continuously accumulate.
The Breakthrough
Dust Mite Anti-Allergen has been specifically formulated to neutralize and render harmless the allergen Der p1 and Der p2, the proven root cause of more than 90% of all asthma/dust attacks in the home. Dust Mite Anti-Allergen was developed with the expert assistance of a leading ecologist and internationally recognized authority on house dust mites. Dust Mite Anti-Allergen is an unique remedial product containing powerful, yet non-toxic, natural ingredients formulated to de-nature dust mite and feline allergen, thereby bringing immediate and positive benefit to people with asthma, rhinitis, eczema or other related conditions.
The Medical Evidence
Studies by Dr. W.F. Green in Australia, originally published in the Lancet, demonstrated that when dust mite droppings are treated with the main active ingredient contained in Dust Mite Anti-Allergen, the allergens are physically changed, rendering them permanently harmless to people who display symptoms on exposure during normal domestic activities such as bed making or vacuum cleaning.

The Dust Mite Anti-Allergen action, known as de-naturing, has also been proven by Professor T.A.E. Platts-Mills, Head of the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of Virginia. Further trials by Dr. J. Maberly, a consultant physician and allergy expert at the Airedale Health Authority in Yorkshire, England demonstrated that the use of the active ingredient used in Dust Mite Anti-Allergen produced “significant changes in reactivity” and “markedly improved symptoms” in his asthma patients.

Research work on Dust Mite Anti-Allergen was conducted by dust mite research specialist, Richard Torogood, and supervised by entomologist Ruud Kleinpaste of the M.A.F. at Auckland University in 1992 and 1993. As a result of this research and further developments, Dust Mite Anti-Allergen was developed.
How Does Dust Mite Anti-Allergen Work?
It is an anti-allergen, water based solution containing extracts found in the bark of certain trees and plants. It works by instantly deactivating the allergen Der p1 and Der p2 in house dust mite and cockroach droppings by de-naturing and substantially reducing the 1gE antibody. As a result they are no longer “recognized” by the bodyís immune system and they do not bond with the antibodies sent to destroy them. This bonding process is the cause of the body’s allergic response (the allergy attack). In effect, an over-reaction of the immune system producing the distress symptoms that, in extreme cases, can pose a threat to life.
Products in the Household Environment
The home furnishings most likely to be effected are mattresses, carpets, carpet underlay, upholstered fabrics, linen and wall and window treatments. The occupants of the house are the proven source of food for the dust mite and wherever we spend most time in the home will be the greatest affected area. The house dust mite lives for approximately 4 months. In this time, it will produce about 200 times its own body weight in excrement and lay approxi-mately 300 eggs, making the concentration of allergens in areas we most fre-quent. These then in turn are the areas which require the most attention with Dust Mite Anti-Allergen.

As the dust mite excrement dries, breaks away and becomes airborne, vacuuming with conventional cleaners using conventional filters can do more harm than good by blowing out up to 40% of the dust they collect into the surrounding atmosphere. This can cause even more distress to the people with asthma or other dust related allergy problems.

Even the simple, everyday act of sitting on a mattress or armchair forces air out like a bellows, sending millions of mite droppings (the principle souse of the allergen Der p1) into the air. Absorbed either by inhalation or skin contact, this invisible allergen cloud poses a most serious threat to the dust sensitive members of the family. This is why they often feel worse after making the bed, or suffer nightly discomfort lying in bed or on rising when they throw back the covers.

As it is perfectly natural for humans to shed skin scales, the dust mite has an important role to play in everyday life. The eradication of the dust mite is not the object, because total eradication of mites is impossible; therefore, eliminating the allergen is the initial priority. The prevention of the high concentration of allergens caused by the dust mite excrement is where Dust Mite Anti-Allergen operates, minimizing this effect in the mattresses and associated household furnishings.

Bayside Carpet Cleaning

Carpet Cleaning Long Beach Island,http://www.baysidecarpetcleaning.org/CarpetCleaningBeachHaven.aspx

Carpet Cleaning near the beach and How Bayside Carpet Cleaning can help keep your summer home healthy and clean.

FACT 1: Each day I pull pounds and pounds of sandy soil out of the base of your neighbors’ carpets. It is in yours too! Spread the yarns apart and look deep. This sand is scratching and dulling your carpet. It is grinding your expensive yarns down into those worthless fibers that fill up your vacuum bag. Every moment you wait, your carpet wears out faster!

FACT 2: While you are down there, how do the traffic lanes feel? Oily residues from the street and air are drying to the carpet. Slightly sticky, they grab dirt and lock it on. Through a process called ‘oxidation’ soils bond with the carpet, causing color change, and becoming permanently attached. If you wait too long, you are throwing away the key to unlocking dirt and oil from traffic lanes. Clean before traffic-lanes show up! The longer you wait between cleaning the more soil becomes permanent.

FACT 3:         Is the air starting to smell stale?   Great News!

Pollutants in the air filter through your carpet. The carpet traps them so you don ‘t breath them over and over. But what happens when that trap gets full? Your family starts breathing dust mite debris, pollens, pollutants, fungus, spores, bacteria and a long list of other really gross stuff. Once your carpets natural filtering ability gets full, it is time for a thorough cleaning for your health ‘s sake. Clean every six months and you will breath easier.

The fact is, clean your carpets frequently, when traffic lanes first start to appear, and they will last longer, look better, and protect your family’s health. But don ‘t just call any company…

Carpet Spot Treatment Tips

3 Tips for Better Spot Removal

  1. Remove it NOW. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to remove. If you cannot remove the stain, call Bayside right away.
  2. DO NOT USE Resolve or other high residue products on your area rugs. Use a neutral ph spotting agent that is made for wool. Call us for purchase information.
  3. Use as little moisture as possible with silk, sisal, cotton, and grass rugs. For these, apply a spotter to a cloth and gently dab the stain.

CAUTION! Some area rugs have a very unstable dye and can be easily ruined. Always pre-test any solution on the rug before attempting spot removal.

Below are some special tips that will help:

  • Make sure you NEVER apply any solvent (nail polish or rubbing alchohol) directly to the carpet. This could cause weakening of the fiber backing.
  • Use a spot machine (by bissel, little green machine, etc) or a wet vacuum to extract any liquid spot BEFORE you treat it with any spot removing solution.
  • DON’T USE TOO MUCH SOLUTION. An entire bottle of spotter should NEVER be used on one spot.
  • RINSE, RINSE, RINSE. This is one of the biggest things homeowners overlook. Remember, the rinse water can be extracted with your spot machine or wet vacuum.

Most spots: Use our SpotOut Cleaner or mix 1/4 teaspoon clear hand dishwashing soap with 1 cup water and follow the directions above. Avoid high residue spotters such as Resolve.

Grease or Oils: For greasy spots, apply rubbing alcohol to a cloth and gently dab the spot. Never pour a solvent directly on your carpet.

Wax: Melt the wax unto a paper bag with a steam iron at a low temperature. Place the paper bag over the wax. Do not allow the iron to directly touch the carpet.

Urine:Although old urine stains cannot be removed from the carpet unless they are cut out, stains that have appeared within a couple of hours can often be cleaned with good success. This can be accomplished by using a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water, followed by blotting with water only. After this, absorb the spot with clean colorfast towels until it is as dry as possible. Next, place a one-half inch thick weighted layer of colorfast towel over the spot and let it sit overnight. This final procedure must not be overlooked since crystallized urine residues left in the carpet are capable of reproducing odors during the warmer more humid months. Older urine stains often require replacement of the part and pad in the affected areas and can also necessitate cleaning the subfloor with a disinfectant.

Vomit The first step is to scrape up as much of the disgorged matter as possible.Next, it is important to elevate the pH of the stained area. This should be accomplished by blotting using a solution of one part non-sudsing ammonia to five parts water, followed with blotting with a damp towel until the spot is as dry as possible. Again, it is also recommended that you place a weighted layer of colorfast towels folded one-half inch thick over the spot and allow it to sit overnight to allow residual matter to wick up into the towel.

If you can’t remove the spot, call us at 609-290-2691. We’ll fit you in our schedule. http://www.carpetcleaningbarnegat.com
